Accomplishing the Perfect Fall Manicure

By Amanda Cohen on October 11, 2015

Fall: a time where short-sleeved blouses become sweaters; a time where high-waisted shorts become jeans and leggings; a time where the bright array of pastels becomes dark, warmer colors.

Everyone loves a good manicure and pedicure, but picking a color usually poses a challenge for most. Here are some nail polish colors that are perfect for the upcoming sweater-weather!

Essie’s Bobbing for Baubles

Bobbing for Baubles is a grey-blue color that, when painted on, shines like a dark sapphire gemstone. Grey-toned nails allow you to embrace the darker colors of fall without having to wear a “goth-like” black nail polish, which can be way too overpowering.

The best part about Bobbing for Baubles is that, like whites and blacks, grey can be worn with any color; the blue tint is not the “main attraction” of the nail polish, it just adds a nice glimmer of color.

Essie’s School of Hard Rocks

Olives are not only delicious to eat, but the color is stunning on every person’s nail beds! Essie’s School of Hard Rocks is an olive color that is less intensified with light grey tones. The addition of the light grey makes the nail polish perfect to wear during a super casual week, but the hint of green makes the perfect statement for a special occasion!

Also, have no fear about what outfit to wear with this less-typical olive tone because this color looks perfect with greys, beiges, and browns. So throw on that comfortable beige cardigan and add a pop of color with School of Hard Rocks.

Essie’s Skirting the Issue

Not ready to completely abstain from wearing a pop of color? I know I’m not! If you want to add a little pizzazz to a grey, brown, or black outfit, Essie’s Skirting the Issue is the perfect color for you. The nail lacquer is a deep burgundy with a hint of magenta.

Just because it’s fall doesn’t mean you have to give up colors completely. Red nail polish is a classic, and this variation of red will look great at an event, or even when walking to class.

Essie’s Mini How High

If you are like some people, changing your usual nail polish color is just not in the books (shout out to my mom who always has Ballet Slipper lacquered on her nails). The problem with fall nail polish colors is that they are usually dark, but there are ways to work around that.

Essie’s Mini How High is a neutral pink color that doesn’t scream “Barbie doll.” Light pink goes with absolutely everything because it is so subtle. Mini How High has hints of beige that make it more appropriate for fall. If you are like me and don’t have the most amazing nail beds at all times, Mini How High spices up your look a bit without drawing too much attention to your uneven nail beds due to your anxiety over midterms.
